Summary

The most sophisticated drag and drop activity creator available. Dragster 3 now offers a multitude of new features and greater flexibility to activity authors.

New features of Dragster 3

• Draggable images - now activities can be created that use images as the draggable elements.
• Scoring - numeric scores can be allocated to correct, close and missed elements. The overall score is presented as a percentage in feedback.
• Scores and responses recorded - all participant scores and activity attempts can be recorded on the Webducate system. These recorded attempts can be made available for viewing by participants in a gallery of results for use in peer review activities.
• Wiki activities - where participants collaborate to generate and position concepts or labels. An activity version history can be viewed.
• Scorm 1.2 publishing - activities can be published in Scorm format for activity tracking in compatible VLEs (more on scorm compatibility).
• All activity text editable - all text displayed within activities is defined during activity authoring providing the flexibility to customize and internationalize activities.
• Easy activity customization - activity settings allow easy authoring of colours used, label and text sizes etc.
• Improved feedback authoring - full screen target area authoring mode, defined targets can be named for future reference and target points visibly displayed during authoring.
• Text feedback and links - Pop-up text feedback and links can be defined for each draggable element.
• Keyboard controls - activities can be taken without using a mouse using only keyboard keys maximising activity accessibility (keyboard controls).
• 2 activity layouts - Landscape and portrait activity layouts.

Innovative teaching pedagogies using Dragster

The results recording and wiki features offered by Dragster enable innovative teaching methods to be used with these activities. For example:

• Using an activity results page for peer review and reflective activities.
• A wiki type activity used by a group to collaborate in identifying appropriate concepts and position these on an academic model (e.g. applying a SWOT analysis to a case study).

Example Dragster activities

	Volcano labeling activity - this activity uses a landscape layout and incorporates pop-up text feedback and links for each label. (recorded results)
	Lumbar vertebra labeling activity - this activity scores performance and records these scores and the arrangement of labels for future reference (recorded results)
	Carbon footprint activity - the activity participant drags variously sized footprint images onto appropriate continents. This activity calculates a percentage accuracy score.
	Do-it-yourself Picasso - this example activity uses draggable images and does not provide feedback. The finished activities are recorded and are available for all participants to view (gallery of recorded activities)
	Metabolic disorders activity - this activity involves the classification of 5 graphical profiles against common infant metabolic disorders. The activity calculates a percentage accuracy score and provides rich roll over feedback.
	Uses of blogs in education wiki - a wiki activity that gets participants to collaborate to identify and classify blog uses in education (version history of matrix). NB this activity is based on a matrix created by Scott Leslie.
	Gapminder World Chart 2006 activity - this activity asks participants to consider the relative health and income of nations based on a chart produced by Gapminder
