The third International Conference on Movement Dysfunction takes place in Edinburgh, UK on the 30th October to the 1st November 2009. This scientific and clinically orientated conference has established itself as a key international conference for therapists working with movement and function and use movement, exercise and other strategies to rehabilitate movement dysfunction. Kinetic Control and the MACP would like to welcome delegates from all continents including physiotherapists, manual therapists, osteopaths, chiropractors, exercise physiologists, sports scientists, sports physicians, and other health professionals involved in the assessment, management, rehabilitation and research of neuro-musculoskeletal dysfunction.
The 1st International Conference on Movement Dysfunction, held in Edinburgh in 2001, was a huge success and enjoyed by over 500 delegates. Almost 700 delegates attended the second conference in 2005 with delegates attending from over 17 countries. Further developing our themes from 2001 and 2005 the theme for 2009 is applying research and science to clinical practice. This will link the science behind biomechanics, neurophysiology and biopsycho-social influences on movement and pain into clinical practice
The aim of this third conference will be to present the current available scientific and clinical knowledge on neuromusculoskeletal dysfunction, with a focus on rehabilitation and applying research / science to clinical practice. The programme will link all the components of movement function back together as part of an integrated assessment and management process including muscle, joint, brain (motor control and psycho-social, neural tissue). Specific topics will include the diagnosis and management of faulty structures, mechanisms and processes of dysfunction and pain mechanisms. Rehab strategies will be explored, particularly progression into function. Evidence of dysfunction and effect of intervention will be explored with up to date presentation from key researchers in the field and clinicians will demonstrate effective management strategies. The conference will be comprised of 10 keynote and 11 guest lectures, free paper sessions, posters and breakout clinical workshop sessions.
This blog will serve as a method of keeping you updated with preparations for the conference and will also bring you LIVE UPDATES throughout the actual conference. This means that a team of people in attendance at the conference will regularly write articles on this blog on events that happen as the conference takes place. For exampe, they will write about what is said in key lectures and give summaries of presentations and workshops that take place. So if you are unable to attend the conference but would like live updates as they happen just keep an eye on this blog between 30th October and 1st Novemeber 2009.
