Dragster 3 keyboard controls
Drag and drop activities authored with Dragster 3 can be taken using only keyboard keys (i.e. without using a mouse).
Keyboard shortcuts:
Note the activity needs to be selected on the web page for these keyboard controls to work. The activity can be selected with the mouse or by using the tab key.

| S | Start activity (closes the introductory window) |
| A | Toggles “live” draggable element highlighting on and off (NB – used in taking an activity and viewing feedback) |
| N | Moves “live” highlight to the next draggable element (NB – used in taking an activity and viewing feedback) |
| B | Moves “live” highlight back to the previous draggable element (NB – used in taking an activity and viewing feedback) |
| Arrow keys | Move the “live” draggable element in the X and Y directions (hold the arrow key down for rapid movement) |
| Space bar | Flips label pointer left to right |
| Z | Scrolls draggable elements left |
| X | Scrolls draggable elements right |
| Insert | Moves the focuse into the text box for adding a draggable element |
| Enter | Adds a draggable element when text is present in the related text entry box |
| Ctrl | Removes focus from the text box for adding a draggable element |
| F | Submits or saves the activity |
| G | Hides feedback and returns to activity (only available when results are not recorded) |
| P | Prints the activity (where this button is available) |
| H | Displays activity version history or gallery of activity results (where this button is available) |
| M | When displaying pop-up text feedback for an element, opens any related web page where available. |
If prompted for name and email when submitting / saving your activity, use the Tab key to move between the text entries and buttons, and the Space bar to activate the highlighted button.
Example keyboard use scenario
For a typical simple dragster 3 labelling activity with feedback, the typical sequence of keyboard keys used would be:
- Toggle with the tab key to select the activity
- After reading any introductory text click the S key to start the activity
- Use the A key to turn on element highlighting to view the “live” element.
- Use the arrow keys and the space bar to position the label on the dropzone image.
- Use the N key to move to the next “live” element and position this element as before.
- When completed use the F key to submit the activity for feedback.
- Use the N and B keys to highlight each label in turn and view the feedback.
